Nathan Dera

After serving as a private Security Officer for Bass Enterprises in Fort Worth, Texas, Nathan transitioned to his Law Enforcement career in February 2001 with the DFW Airport Board Department of Public Safety. He was assigned to Patrol where he completed and passed his Field Training Officer certification and DFW Fire Academy and Basic Aircraft Rescue. He was selected and assigned to the Motors/SWAT division in August 2003.

As an integral member of the SWAT Team, he competed and placed during Texas Tactical Police Officer Association (TTPOA) annual precision skills competitions. During his nine years with the team, he acquired many certifications.

Joining the City of Bryan as a Law Enforcement Officer in July 2013, he was selected to the perimeter team on Bryan’s Special Response Team. During his four years with the Bryan Police Department (PD) he worked as Vehicle Close Quarters Battle Instructor and IPMBA Certified Patrol Officer. 

Nathan transferred to Westworth Village PD as Sergeant and was assigned as the Training Coordinator. He collaborated with the command staff on training new officers as an Instructor for National Academy for Professional Driving at the Regional Police Academy for North Central Texas Council of Governments.

Nathan retired with the City of Venus after a total of twenty years in Law Enforcement.
